Professor David Sines CBE was until recently Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean and Professor of Community Health Care Nursing at the Faculty of Society and Health at Buckinghamshire New University and holds the position of Provost at the University. He held previous roles as Executive Dean for the Faculty of Health & Social Care at London South Bank University and as Head of School of Health Sciences at the University of Ulster. David obtained his PhD in social policy from the University of Southampton in 1993 and has held four Secretary of State appointments, including appointments to the UKCC and NMC. He has been a Governor of three NHS Foundation Trusts in London.
He held an Honorary Appointment with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as Associate Director of Nursing. He is a Fellow of the RCN and received a CBE in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for ‘Services to Health Care’. David was until recently a Non-Executive Director with the Central London NHS Community Healthcare Trust and an Associate Non-Executive Director with Buckinghamshire NHS Hospitals Trust and currently chairs their respective Health and Social Care Academies. David is also an Emeritus Professor with Buckinghamshire New University and Strategic Advisor to the Vice Chancellor. David is currently appointed as a professional advisor to Health Education England and works closely with primary and community care workforce strategy and transformation in London. David is a Trustee with The Burdett Nursing Trust and is Patron with the Learning Disability Charity Choice Support and holds appointment as Honorary Vice President with the Northern Ireland Charity People and Professionals for Autism. David has undertaken two previous periods of engagement with the HEE GP Deanery in both NWL and HENCEL and acted as a fully functioning Associate Director for the GP Deanery at the University of London for a twelve-month period as part of this role. David was Chair of the Health Education England Stakeholder Engagement Committee that produced the HEE (DHSC approved) Education and Training Framework for Non-Surgical Cosmetic interventions in 2015 and was subsequently appointed as Independent Chair of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners in January 2016.
