Why Pursue a Level 7 Diploma?

Taking the Level 7 Diploma will help you stand out amongst other aesthetic practitioners. Whether you’re a solo practitioner or working within a wider corporation. It will also help you develop a client base, enhance your career, and, in turn, increase your earning potential.

With significant hands-on practice in a safe and controlled clinical environment, this Diploma will help build your confidence. As an aesthetic professional who treats patients and administers injectable treatments, your confidence can’t be more important.

Recommended by Health Education England (HEE) as the baseline qualification for all practitioners pursuing a career in aesthetic medicine. The Level 7 qualification ensures you receive the highest standard of injectable therapies training.

This Diploma also demonstrates compliance with the latest regulatory guidance. It is in line with the General Medical Council (GMC), the General Dental Council (GDC), and the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) principles of practice.

With more people getting aesthetic treatments in the UK, the general public is becoming increasingly aware of the Level 7 Diploma. This has made it an asset when looking at or choosing an aesthetic practitioner.

Understanding the Level 7 Diploma

The Level 7 Diploma is a credible qualification for healthcare professionals trained in aesthetic injectable medicine. As well as being approved by the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), this Diploma is recommended by Health Education England (HEE). This is the baseline qualification for all practitioners pursuing a career in aesthetic medicine.

The course will provide you with a greater understanding of facial anatomy, skin physiology, and dermatological indications/contraindications of treatment. Only registered Healthcare professionals can take the aesthetic medicine qualification, including Doctors, Dentists, Nurses, and Pharmacists. The Diploma itself involves:

  • Building a practical portfolio (a detailed logbook of your observed and performed procedures in toxin and dermal filler modalities)
  • Building an academic portfolio (coursework submissions including an essay, a case study, and an appraisal to demonstrate learning and progress)
  • Undertaking theoretical training (e-learning modules based upon key learning components highlighted by HEE)
  • Practical training (courses and mentoring days for hands-on injecting experience)

Your coursework is first assessed by an internal team of assessors and then an internal verifier. Once the internal checks have been completed, your coursework is then passed to an external verifier. The external verifier provides the cosmetic injectables certification.

To achieve a Level 7 Diploma, you must also record 40 procedures in total, including:

  • 10 observed toxin treatments
  • 10 performed toxin treatments
  • 10 observed dermal filler treatments
  • 10 performed dermal filler treatments

All 40 treatments must be assessed and approved by a Level 7 Trainer. Overall, the Level 7 Diploma allows you to confidently and safely administer injectable treatments to patients and provide the highest standards of care.

Choosing the Right Training Provider

When choosing a training provider, it’s wise to conduct your own research to ensure the provider is reputable and accredited. When looking through different aesthetic medicine courses, you should check their accreditations and investigate their faculty expertise. You should also explore the course materials and see if they’re in line with the most authoritative bodies in the industry. A good example of an authoritative body is the Health Education England (HEE).

It’s essential to get hands-on experience to ensure you’re delivering the best-in-class care to patients. So before you choose, make sure the course has a good balance of theoretical and practical training.

Preparing for Success

To get the most out of your Diploma, there are plenty of resources you can utilise as part of the fillers and Botox training. We provide an extensive library of e-learning materials, from lectures and literature papers to guidelines and forums. This is all based upon key learning components highlighted by Health Education England (HEE).

You’ll even have access to learning and training videos, all curated by the best in the field, to help your professional development in aesthetic medicine. Even better, all learning material has been specially designed and written by industry experts. This includes Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, Consultant Dermatologists, and Dental Surgeons.

Getting hands-on experience is the primary focus of the qualification. This requires the provision of mentoring sessions, hands-on workshops, and opportunities. This is shadowing experienced practitioners and participating in supervised clinical sessions.

Usually, you have up to 24 months to complete the course. However, it is possible to complete it in as little as 9 months. To make the most out of your course and complete it in good time, you’ll need to strike a balance. This is between learning the theory as well as getting immersed in the practical side of things. Practical training days consist of full days, supplemented by online learning materials and training videos. Note that mentoring sessions are mornings only so make sure you free up some time as these will be crucial to your Diploma.

As a flexible course, you get to choose which dates and locations suit you. Between the in-person training days, you should scrub up on the theory and complete all the recommended and compulsory reading exercises, training videos, and coursework.
